Team 'TightNUp' Wins Top Prize in Key West's VFW Fishing Tournament


The 10th annual VFW Fishing Tournament ended on June 19th in Key West with team TightNUp claiming the top prize. Alexa Barket of Live Oak, Florida caught the winning fish, a 35.6-pound dolphin, that secured the team's $5,000 prize. Kevin Rowley of Big Pine Key, Florida captained TightNUp to victory. The team also placed third with a 12.1-pound dolphin caught by Yomalie Sanchez Thon of Live Oak.

Justin "Willie" Woods of Fish Whistle was the runner-up, catching a 30.4-pound dolphin. The family-friendly tournament featured cash prizes for the heaviest catches in several categories, including dolphin, tuna, snapper, and grouper. There were also prizes for the top veteran, active-duty military member, first responder, senior, junior, and female anglers.

The tournament drew a total of 56 boats and all proceeds will go to disabled or needy veterans and their families in Monroe County, Florida. It was a great event for a great cause, and we congratulate all of the winners!
