'Smallest Parade' to Feature Large-Scale Creativity in Key West
September 22, 2022 • KW Tourist
The Florida Keys are gearing up for Fantasy Fest, Key West’s annual masking and costuming festival. Artists and artisans around the island are busy preparing their floats and costumes for the event. One of the highlights of the festival is the Smallest Parade in the Universe. This parade features miniature floats that are created by local artists and artisans. The floats are then auctioned off to raise money for the Monroe Association for ReMARCable Citizens, a local nonprofit that provides services for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
This year’s Smallest Parade in the Universe is sure to be even more impressive than previous years, with a theme of “Cult Classics & Cartoon Chaos.” Floats in the past have included a kinetic creation featuring Key West icons, an elaborate haunted house, and an intricate coral reef scene. Spectators will be able to get a close look at the floats as they move along a small-scale replica of Key West’s Duval Street.
The Smallest Parade in the Universe is a great opportunity to support local artists and artisans while also helping to raise money for a worthy cause. Be sure to check it out on October 22nd!
