'Nutcracker Key West' to Add Florida Keys Flair to Classic Holiday Ballet

Looking for something unique this holiday season? Check out Nutcracker Key West, a subtropical twist on the classic ballet. This production features characters and sets inspired by Key West's colorful history and vibrant coral reef environment.

Professional dancers from the New York Dance Project will join approximately 80 local children and adults in the production. The timeless story of young Clara's holiday dream unfolds in an island city setting circa 1863.

Highlights of the production include a dream battle with toy sailors and a coral reef scene with dancing shrimp and brightly-colored reef fish. The story also incorporates imagery from the history of the sunken Spanish galleon Nuestra Señora de Atocha.

Nutcracker Key West is a celebration of Key West culture, traditions, and environmental richness. The production features expertly crafted sets and museum-quality costumes. Six performances are scheduled, including two matinees Dec. 7-11.

So if you're looking for something a little different this holiday season, be sure to check out Nutcracker Key West. You won't be disappointed!
