Key West's VFW Fishing Tournament to Target Five Species June 16-18

The 11th annual VFW Fishing Tournament is set to take place from June 16-18 in Key West, Florida. Anglers of all ages, genders, and experience levels are invited to participate and test their skills against five different species of fish: mahi-mahi, wahoo, tuna, snapper, and grouper. The heaviest catch of each species will be awarded cash prizes, including a $5,000 prize for the heaviest mahi-mahi. A "super prize" of $20,000 or a new Toyota Corolla automobile will be awarded to the angler who catches the heaviest dolphin fish of 50 pounds or more. There are also additional prizes for the top active-duty military angler, veteran, and first responder, as well as for senior, lady, junior, and pee-wee competitors. A new addition this year is the VFW Slam, where a boat team that catches fish from three of the five species with the highest combined weight will win $1,000. All proceeds from the tournament will benefit the VFW Relief Fund for veterans and active-duty personnel in need in the Florida Keys’ Monroe County.
