Key West's Headdress Ball Set to 'Tower Above' Audiences Oct. 27


Merrymakers can show off their most creative, extravagant masks and dazzling headdress regalia at the 39th annual Headdress Ball set for Thursday, Oct. 27, at the Coffee Butler Amphitheater at Key West’s Truman Waterfront Park.

Each year, the Key West Business Guild hosts the Headdress Ball, a spectacular event that features creative and extravagant masks and headdresses. The 39th annual Headdress Ball will take place on Thursday, Oct. 27, at the Coffee Butler Amphitheater at Key West’s Truman Waterfront Park.

Combining captivating entertainment and creative competition, the Headdress Ball is the premier LGBTQ event of the island’s 10-day Fantasy Fest costuming and masking celebration. Up to 25 contestants will showcase their unique headdresses, some of which will tower high above their designers. entrants will compete for cash prizes, including a first-place award of $3,000.

Between headdress presentations, audiences can enjoy dazzling entertainment by local talents, including renowned female impersonator Christopher Peterson. Key West’s Laurie Thibaud will emcee the event, with music overseen by DJ Rude Girl.

The Headdress Ball is a major annual fundraiser for the Key West Business Guild, one of the oldest LGBTQ business organizations in the United States. General admission begins at $30 per person, with reserved tables for four people starting at $280.
