Goombay Festival to Blend Music, Food and Island Spirit

The annual Goombay Festival is a high-energy event that blends music, food, and island spirit. The festival takes place Friday and Saturday, Oct. 21-22, in Key West's Bahama Village neighborhood and features live music, food vendors, and a celebration of the cultural connection between Key West and the Bahamas. The festival is a great opportunity to experience the unique culture of the Bahamas and Key West, and it's also the perfect way to kick off Fantasy Fest, Key West's 10-day costuming and masking gala.

The Goombay Festival attracts thousands of people from all over the world, and it's a great opportunity to sample some of the best food the Bahamas has to offer. Conch fritters, fried fish, and black beans and rice are just a few of the delicious dishes you'll find at the festival. You can also enjoy the music of popular Bahamian, Floridian, and local musicians on the main stage located at the corner of Petronia and Fort streets.

Other highlights of the festival include the Friday night opening ceremonies and the Saturday night Junkanoo Gawds Parade. The parade is a spectacular procession of costumed marchers and dancers that begins at 6 p.m. and travels through Key West's historic downtown. If you're looking for a fun-filled weekend of music, food, and culture, the Goombay Festival is the perfect event for you.
