Key West Harbor Walk of Lights - Historic Seaport Holiday Events

Key West Harbor Walk of Lights & Holiday Celebrations

The holidays in Key West shimmer with a distinctive island spirit—where thousands of golden bulbs reflect off turquoise waters, coconut palms wear twinkling crowns, and the salt-tinged air carries both Christmas carols and the gentle clink of rigging against masts. At the Historic Seaport, the annual Key West Harbor Walk of Lights transforms the waterfront into a nightly celebration of coastal Christmas magic, glowing from dusk to 11:00 PM throughout December. This isn’t just a light display; it’s a living island tradition where visitors stroll beneath swaying palms, past schooners wrapped in garlands and vintage lobster-trap ornaments.

Stretching from Greene Street to the Ferry Terminal, the harbor becomes a glowing gallery of nautical wonder. Hand-painted fishing buoys rise into a towering conch-style Christmas tree at the Greene & Elizabeth Street plaza, while sailboats shimmer beneath illuminated anchors and sea-themed sculptures. Holiday music fills the walkways beginning around 5:00 PM, with steel drums, island carols, and acoustic sets drifting across the water as the sun melts into the Gulf.

Beginning Thursday, December 4, 2025, the island’s festivities unfold in full. That evening, from 6:00–8:00 PM, the 20th Annual Pet Pictures with Santa™ takes place at the 16’ Nautical Christmas Tree on William Street, offering professional photos by Rob O’Neal for $25 cash, with proceeds supporting the Boys & Girls Clubs. Pets dressed in tropical holiday outfits pose beneath glowing harbor lights, marking the unofficial start of December cheer.

That same night, the island’s beloved Schooner Wharf Tree Trimming Party & Toy Drive begins at 6:00 PM at Schooner Wharf Bar. Guests receive a complimentary holiday drink—egg nog, hot apple jack, or Swedish glogg—when they help decorate the big waterfront tree or donate an unwrapped toy for the Cheryl Cates Memorial Toy Drive. Live island musicians play reggae, calypso, and holiday favorites as ornaments shimmer under dockside masts.

On Friday, December 5, 2025, the celebration moves to Truman Waterfront Park as Wesley House Family Services presents the Holiday Village & BeLighted Bike Ride at the Coffee Butler Amphitheater. From 4:00–8:00 PM, families explore artisan booths, food trucks, kids’ zones, and island-style music beneath festive lights. At 8:00 PM, the BeLighted Bike Ride rolls out—a glowing procession of bikes wrapped in LEDs, flamingo lights, conch shells, and tropical Santa themes cruising through Old Town.

The excitement builds into Saturday, December 6, 2025, when the Hometown Holiday Parade begins at 6:30 PM. Floats, school marching bands, dancers, and community groups travel from Truman Avenue at White Street down to Duval Street and onward to Eaton Street, with Santa’s arrival marking the finale. The entire route becomes a parade of lights as families gather curbside to cheer on the procession.

On Sunday, December 7, 2025, the waterfront hosts a quieter but equally meaningful tradition as the annual Menorah Lighting at Bayview Park begins at sundown. Community blessings, songs, and the lighting of the large menorah bring Hanukkah’s warmth to the island skyline.

The week continues with Key West’s classic holiday-lights tours. Beginning Monday, December 8, 2025, the Conch Tour Train Holiday Lights Tour rolls out nightly on select dates, taking guests past historic conch homes decked out in elaborate Christmas displays. The Old Town Trolley Holiday Sights & Festive Nights Tour also begins this week, offering its own ride through Key West’s most festive neighborhoods, complete with caroling and onboard holiday hosts.

The following weekend brings one of the island’s most anticipated events. On Saturday, December 13, 2025, holiday music begins along the waterfront at 6:00 PM, echoing across the harbor as crowds gather for the 34th Annual Lighted Boat Parade. At 8:00 PM, schooners, fishing boats, yachts, and private vessels glide through the bight, glowing from waterline to masthead with intricate holiday displays. The best viewing stretches along the Harbor Walk, Mallory Square, and the judging stand at Schooner Wharf Bar, where awards and live music carry the celebration late into the night.

That same evening, the Schooner Appledore Lighted Boat Parade Party invites guests aboard from 7:30–9:30 PM to join the parade itself, enjoying boutique wines, premium beers, and the best seat in the harbor beneath the illuminated sails.

As the holiday glow settles over the island, more traditions unfold. On Sunday, December 14, 2025, the island gathers at the Conch Republic Seafood Company parking lot from 11:00 AM–3:00 PM for the Florida Keys Southernmost Car Show & Toy Drive, with classic and custom cars decorated in festive themes and donations supporting local causes. That evening, young musicians take the spotlight as Violins in Motion performs beneath the Fishing Buoy Christmas Tree at Greene & Elizabeth, filling the waterfront with carols from 6:30–8:00 PM.

Mid-December brings Key West’s beloved cultural nights. On Friday, December 12, 2025, the Holiday Concert & Bazaar at the Key West Museum of Art & History transforms the Custom House into a night of live music, artisan markets, and seasonal lights. The Holiday Historic Inn Tours return on Friday, December 12 and again on Friday, December 19, each night offering a different lineup of historic inns and conch mansions decorated in vintage ornaments, tropical garlands, and candlelit courtyards, complete with holiday treats and drinks at each stop.

From December 13–28, 2025, Truman Waterfront becomes a festive playground with the Waterfront Winter Wonderland, featuring rides, treats, artisan booths, Santa visits through December 22, and nightly snow flurries drifting through the warm tropical air.

Beginning Friday, December 19, the Cocoa & Carols Cruises aboard Schooner America 2.0 run nightly through Wednesday, December 24, from 7:00–8:30 PM, with additional daytime sails on select dates. Guests enjoy hot cocoa, cookies, festive treats, and live holiday music aboard the 105-foot schooner adorned in dazzling Christmas lights.

As Christmas approaches, the island prepares for a signature morning on the water. On Thursday, December 25, 2025, from 10:00 AM–12:30 PM, the Christmas Day Brunch Sail aboard Schooner America 2.0 offers a 2.5-hour harbor cruise with holiday dishes, mimosas, wine, and seasonal cocktails beneath bright December sunshine.

The season concludes with Key West’s famously spirited New Year’s Eve celebrations on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. Visitors choose between the Rooftop Conch Shell Drop at Sloppy Joe’s, the glamorous Drag Queen Shoe Drop at Bourbon St. Pub, the swashbuckling Pirate Wench Drop at Schooner Wharf Bar—descending from the mast at 11:59 PM—or the tropical Key Lime Wedge Drop into a giant margarita at Ocean Key Resort’s Sunset Pier. Each celebration offers live music, party favors, and a countdown framed by warm island breezes.

Together, these events create a December filled with Key West Christmas Spirit—an island-wide celebration where palm trees wear lights instead of snow, schooners replace sleighs, and holiday cheer flows as freely as the Gulf breeze. For travelers planning now, the season offers a perfect blend of nautical magic, tropical charm, and heartfelt tradition across every corner of the island.
