As Labor Day Weekend draws near, beer and lager enthusiasts can look forward to the annual Key West BrewFest, held in the beautiful Florida Keys. Scheduled from Thursday, Aug. 31, through Monday, Sept. 4, the festival promises an unforgettable experience featuring a wide range of events, from a gourmet beer pairing dinner to the oceanfront Signature Tasting Festival.
What to Expect
Here's a glimpse into what the festival holds in store:
- More than 150 varieties of beers and ales, including one-of-a-kind microbrews, will be on display.
- Participants will have the chance to try products from uniquely named breweries like Voodoo Brewing Co., Barrel of Monks Brewing, and Walking Tree Brewery.
- Local favorites from the Florida Keys Brewing Co., Islamorada Beer Company, and Waterfront Brewery will complement the offerings.
The BrewFest will kick-off at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 31, with a "Throwback Thursday" pool party at Havana Cabana.
Jam-Packed Schedule
There's a lot more than just beer tasting. The festival's itinerary includes:
- Pool party and belly flop contest at the Southernmost Beach Resort
- Five-course beer dinner at the Southernmost Beach Café
- Another pool party at Oceans Edge Resort & Marina
- "Reggae rehab" pool party at The Marker
- Beer pairing dinner at Matt's Stock Island Kitchen & Bar at the Perry Hotel & Marina
The Signature Tasting Festival is the highlight of the event, showcasing some 150 beers from around the globe. Slated for Saturday, from 5-8 p.m., it will take place on Key West's South Beach. The admission cost for this tasting is $45 per person, or $100 for entry to the tasting and a VIP gathering with passed appetizers from 3-5 p.m.
The festivities continue through Labor Day, when attendees have the opportunity to win prizes during an evening of bingo at the Green Parrot Bar. This local tradition promises a fun-filled competition, plenty of beer for purchase, and a chance to experience a legendary island watering hole.
Community Impact
The Southernmost Beach Resort and the Rotary Club of Key West Sunrise in the Conch Republic are the proud presenters of the BrewFest. Not only does the festival offer a feast for the beer-lovers, but it also supports local and statewide scholarship programs. The proceeds from the festival are slated to fund local scholarships and the statewide Take Stock in Children scholarship program.
