Susan Werner brings her acclaimed songwriting and virtuoso musicianship to The Studios of Key West as part of the Old Town New Folk Concert Series, sponsored by Blue Heaven. Celebrated by the Chicago Tribune as “one of the most innovative songwriters working today,” Werner delivers a dynamic, genre-spanning performance that reflects more than twenty-five years of artistic evolution.

A Chicago-based artist with exceptional command of piano, guitar, and voice, Werner’s concerts unfold as a one-woman master class in musical storytelling. Her expansive catalog moves effortlessly from acoustic folk roots to classic American songwriting traditions, including Gershwin- and Cole Porter–inspired standards, gospel, Cuban son, and New Orleans–style piano. Her work has been recorded by Tom Jones, Michael Feinstein, and Shemekia Copeland, and her recent album, The Birds of Florida, showcases original material inspired by place, rhythm, and narrative depth.

This special engagement at The Studios of Key West features two intimate performances in distinct venues. Audiences can experience Werner’s artistry in the Helmerich Theater or the elevated setting of Hugh’s View, each offering a unique listening environment that highlights nuance, lyricism, and musical range.
