Hemingway Look-Alike Contest: July 17-21, 2024 

Welcome to the official webpage of the Hemingway Look-Alike Contest, Key West’s most iconic and whimsical tribute to one of the greatest literary figures of the 20th century, Ernest Hemingway. Held annually in sunny Key West, this event celebrates Hemingway’s life and enduring legacy in a way that’s as unique and spirited as the man himself.

At the heart of the festivities is the Hemingway Look-Alike Contest, where participants from around the world don their best Hemingway-esque attire and compete to be named “Papa.” But this isn’t just a contest of physical resemblance; it’s a celebration of Hemingway’s larger-than-life persona. Contestants are judged not only on their physical similarity to the great writer but also on their embodiment of his spirit and zest for life.

Contest Details:

• Register for Thursday, July 18, 2024 Contest: 80 total available spots.
• Register for Friday, July 19, 2024 Contest: 80 total available spots.

Look-Alike Contest Guidelines:

• Pre-register by mail (DEADLINE IS JULY 15, 2024).
• The contest is limited to 80 contestants each night.
• Print out the entry form, complete information, sign the front and back, and mail it along with the indicated fees.
• Indicate whether you will compete in the Thursday or Friday preliminary round.
• Contestants may only sign up for one night.
• If a contestant competes in the Thursday night round and does not advance to the final round, they may not sign up for Friday.
• Confirmation will be emailed to contestants.
• If entry forms arrive and the contest is already full, contestants will be notified.
