Sea Level Stories: Jane Lawton Baldridge Art Exhibition

Baldridge displays large abstract seascape paintings to bring awareness to the mounting threats of flooding and sea level rise with the goal of inspiring our community to unify in solving these issues. On view through Oct. 27 at The Studios of Key West.
Baldridge focuses on using the power of art to bring awareness to the mounting threats of flooding and sea level rise with the goal of inspiring our community to unify in solving these issues. Large abstract seascape paintings that portray sea states from the perfect tranquil snorkel day to the powerful waves borne on a storm are displayed alongside sculptural figures covered with elevation maps reinforcing the immediacy of the crisis at hand.
As well as an artist, Baldridge is a licensed boat captain. Throughout her work and during her time living on a boat, she closely studied the movements and patterns of water, particularly interested in how powerfully water sculpts shorelines. Her fascination with the ocean and its many moods is evident in her artwork.
Baldridge has shown in Lincoln Center, Times Square, the Louvre, Museum of Computer Art, Mint Museum, Cameron Museum of Art, Fayetteville Museum of Art, World Festival of Art on Paper (Slovenia) and has a piece of art in the Library of Congress.
