HUMAN-POWERED ART SCULPTURES TAKE OVER KEY WEST!

On April 4th, Key West will host the fifth annual Papio Kinetic Sculpture and Art Bike Parade. The parade, a family-friendly event held on Earth Day, features elaborately decorated bicycles, colorful sculptural floats with moving parts, and other mobile creations crafted with repurposed or recycled elements. The parade honors Stanley Papio, a Florida Keys' pioneering folk artist whose recycled metal sculptures are known for their clever satire, tenacity, and innovation. The event, which kicks off from the Custom House Museum and ends at Pocket Park, is part of a national craze that began in California in 1969 and has since spread to include other communities' floats-with-moving-parts parades. Interested participants can find registration information, event schedules, entry guidelines, festival tickets, and sponsorship information on the event's website. papiokineticparade.com
