This premier Florida lobster sport season offers regulated sport fishing with strict rules to ensure sustainability and fair play.
Fishermen must adhere to key regulations, including a daily bag limit of 6 lobsters per person in Monroe County and Biscayne National Park, with a limit of 12 per person in other Florida waters. On-water possession limits match the daily bag limit, while off-water limits are set at the daily bag limit on July 30, 2025 and double on July 31, 2025. Lobsters must have a minimum carapace length of greater than 3 inches measured in the water, with the use of a measuring device required at all times.
Additional rules include a prohibition on night diving in Monroe County during the sport season and restrictions in protected areas such as John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park and designated marine sanctuaries. Participation requires a recreational saltwater fishing license and a lobster permit, ensuring a responsible and enjoyable event for all enthusiasts.
