Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary's Eco-Discovery Center in Key West re-opens on April 15 with a "Community Day'' celebration from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. featuring coffee with the superintendent at 9 a.m. followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m., then games and hands-on activities for kids along with tours of the re-imagined visitor center and exhibits throughout the day. There will be a "Mission: Iconic Reefs" presentation at 2 p.m.
The event is free, just like admission to the Eco-Discovery Center itself, which is now open regularly on Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Find the center in Truman Waterfront Park at 35 Quay Rd.
