The Afro Roots Festival will feature a concert by Cortadito, a Cuban folk and country music band from Miami, on April 28th, 2023. The band's music is rooted in the Afro-Cuban style of Son, which has influenced many forms of salsa and Latin jazz. With a traditional focus on acoustic performance, Cortadito's sound is reminiscent of the legendary Buena Vista Social Club. The band has gained recognition in the Miami music scene, earning the title of "Best Latin Act" in the Miami New Times' "Best of Miami" issue. Additionally, Cortadito has expanded their show series to "Cortadito and Friends", featuring guest performances from renowned artists including Nestor Torres, Sammy Figueroa, and Federico Britos.
