Chuck Cannon, known professionally as Marion Cletus Cannon Jr., has left an indelible mark on the country music landscape. His impressive songwriting career includes composing hit singles for renowned artists such as Toby Keith and John Michael Montgomery. Cannon's contributions to the music industry have not gone unnoticed, as he has received accolades from Broadcast Music Incorporated and earned an Academy of Country Music award for Song of the Year.

Among his notable compositions is the chart-topping "I Love the Way You Love Me," co-written with Victoria Shaw, which became a Number One hit for John Michael Montgomery in 1993. This song also clinched the Song of the Year award at the Academy of Country Music awards, a prestigious honor bestowed upon songwriters.

Cannon's collaboration with Toby Keith produced a string of hits in the late 1990s and early 2000s, including "Me Too," "Dream Walkin'," "We Were in Love," "Getcha Some," "If a Man Answers," "When Love Fades," and the chart-topping "How Do You Like Me Now?!" in 2000. The latter was not only a Number One country song but also claimed the top spot on the Billboard Year-End charts for the year. Both "How Do You Like Me Now?!" and "I Love the Way You Love Me" received Eight-Million-Air awards from Broadcast Music Incorporated for achieving eight million spins on radio.

In addition to his songwriting successes, Chuck Cannon has showcased his musical talents as a recording artist. He self-released two albums, "God Shaped Hole" and "Love and Money," in 2006 and 2008, respectively. His song "If I Was Jesus," released in 2007, received a nomination in the Americana Song of the Year category at the 7th Annual Independent Music Awards.

On a personal note, Chuck Cannon was married to the late country music singer-songwriter Lari White until her passing on January 23, 2018. Notably, he has also penned singles for Lari White. Their family includes two daughters, M'Kenzy and Kyra, as well as a son named Jaxon.
